164 people have recovered from the deadly coronavirus (COVID -19), PM Dion Ngute confirmed on Thursday night.
However, over 300 persons are hospitalized with 30 persons breathing artificially with the help of artificial ventilators, while the number of COVID-19 patients has risen to 996.
PM Ngute shared statistics while giving updates on Thursday’s Inter-ministerial meeting on the fight against coronavirus in the country.
He revealed that President Biya has asked for an extension to the anti-coronavirus measures taken by the government to prevent the disease from spreading for another 15 days.
Statistics on Covid-19 in Cameroon
Cameroonians have not had daily updates on the number of coronavirus cases in cameroon, recoveries and deaths, for a week.
The minister announced April 9 that he will no longer give statistics on COVID-19 patients in the country. In a tweet he said he will share only ‘ the evolution of Cameroon’s strategy to fight the Coronavirus, serious cases, cured cases, deaths and measures taken to prevent the disease from spreading.’
The move has given room for rumours and speculations, as people try to add up the number of cases on their own when they receive updates from the Ministry of Health.
Yesterday reports said over 200 people had recovered from the Coronavirus, but the Prime Minister’s statistics contradicts.
