A team from the Confederation of African Football, CAF arrives Cameroon today for a three-day working visit ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations which begins in January 2022.
The CAF team which is led by the institution’s Secretary General Veron Mosengo will inspect on-going works the Olembe Sport Complex this afternoon at 4pm. The 60.000 capacity stadium shall stage the opening and closing ceremonies of next year’s Nations Cup.
During the visit, the CAF delegation will inaugurate the AFCON bureau in Yaounde on Tuesday June 15, 2021 at midday. There will also be talks between the CAF team, officials of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) and members of the local organizing committee (COCAN) before a press meeting at fecafoot’s head office at 5pm.
This visit comes four (4) days after the Minister of Sport and Physical Education Narcisse Mouelle Kombi rubbished rumours Cameroon was on the verge of losing its hosting rights.
The CAF team will leave Cameroon on Wednesday.
