Andre Onana and Ambroise Oyongo Bitolo have been named in Cameroon’s squad for November’s crunch 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Malawi and Ivory Coast.

Onana, 25 has been out of action since February 2021 following a ban by UEFA while Oyongo Bitolo returns to the national team for the first time in a year after suffering from a knee injury.

Another returnee named in the final list of 27-players by the head coach Antonio Conceicao is Tawamba Kana. The 30-year-old last featured for Cameroon three years ago.

A bulk of players retained by Cameroon’s gaffer have been regulars throughout their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with some of them living up to the billing recently at club level.

Five players were dropped from the provisional 32-man squad, including Paul George Ntep, injured Yvan Neyou, Samuel Junior Kotto and former Coton Sport of Garoua players Narcisse Nlend Junior and Lambert Ngueme Araina.

The Indomitable Lions must win their final group D qualification games to reach Africa’s playoffs for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. They take on Malawi on match day five on November 13 in South Africa before facing Ivory Coast three days later on home soil.

Cameroon are currently second of their group with nine (9pts), one point behind current leaders Ivory Coast on 10pts. Malawi and Mozambique who complete the group are already eliminated from the race.

Both Cameroon and Ivory Coast are seemingly heading for a winner-takes-all contest during the final day of play on November 16 at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.
