Cameroon’s Territorial Administrations Minister has urged the ten regional governors to take special measures against criminals in their respective regions.

There has been a surge in cyber criminality, armed robberies, murder cases, kidnap-for-ransom, in most regions of the country.

The opening ceremony of the 2021 first bi-annual Governors conference focuses on evaluating the security situation in Cameroon during the last six months.

The conference paid special attention to English speaking separatist fighters in the restive Northwest and Southwest Regions. The fighters have been accused of posing a threat to the lives of innocent citizens as they target the military with Improvised Explosive Devices.

In a bit to tackle the wave of crime, Minister Paul Atanga Nji urged Governors to derive measures to ensure peace and order and protect the people and property within their respective jurisdictions.

The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defence in charge of the National Gendermarie, the Delegate General for National Security and the Minister of Agriculture and Regional Development are also attending the conference.

The two day conference underway at the Yaounde Town hall ends Tuesday, June 15.
