CAF Issues Public Reaction to Aggression of Algerian Journalists in Douala

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reacted to acts of hostility directed at three Algerian Journalists yesterday January 09, 2022, in Douala.

CAF has condemned these attacks, and called on the authorities to “shine light on the issue, and open an investigation.”

The CAF statement says the journalists were threatened with crude weapons like knives and also robbed of their private property.

CAF has also urged Cameroonians to stare clear of all actions that are provocative and violent so as not to disrupt the smooth organization of the AFCON.

The Journalists in question were harassed by unidentified thugs at about 9 pm in Douala on January 09, 2021. They were able to escape from the aggressors albeit with major injuries and were transferred to the hospital last night where they have been receiving treatment for their injuries.

Cameroonian journalist says one of the assailants have been apprehended by the police in Douala.
