By Beng Emmanuel

Ahmed Yasser scored a late goal as host Egypt came from behind twice to beat Ghana 3-2 and reach the semi final of the 2019 U-23 African Cup of Nations.

Ghana’s Black Meteors were quicker on terms when Yaw Yeboah gave the tournament debutants a shock 6th minute lead.

Mostafa Mohammed intervened and canceled Ghana’s early lead 17 minutes into the game.

Both sides were on a tight 1-1 draw at the break.

Ghana restored their lead through Samuel Gyabaa 46th minute finish and everything seemed to be in Ghana’s favour before their tragic end.

Two terrible goalkeeping errors from Ghana’s keeper Kwame Baah inspired Egypt to a comeback within six minutes.

Ramadan Sobhi who was named Total Man of the Match got a crucial 82nd minute equaliser before Ahmed Yasser fired the host to their second consecutive victory as they became the first nation to reach the last four.

Egypt lead group A with 6 points with two victories.

They face second placed Cameroon on Thursday while Mali who became the first nation to be eliminated face Ghana.
