The President of the National Assembly, Cavayé Yeguie Djibril has expressed Cameroon’s gratitude to China for its commitment to finance and construct a new National Assembly building.
“I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate the gratitude of the Cameroonian people for the Chinese friend and brother. ” Cavayé said during the opening of the ongoing November session of parliament on Tuesday, in the capital city Yaounde.
He further said the project for the construction of a new parliamentary complex will enhance Cameroon- China relations.
“The future complex will, for sure, consolidate bilateral relations already so excellent and fruitful between our two countries,” Hon. Djibril said.
The project to be fully funded by the Chinese government is worth 54.5 billion CFA. The building is expected to cover a surface area of 90,000 square meters, have about 400 parliamentary sitter chambers, with several entry points as well as gardens.
The construction confirmed several months ago will begin upon the arrival of the reported Chinese enterprise selected for the job that will be delivered in 48 months.
