Cameroon 2017 Nations Cup winner, Christian Bassogog has tested positive for Covid-19, Guangzhou health personnel have confirmed.
The 24-year-old front man becomes only the second player in China to have contracted coronavirus after Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
Ginainforms has gathered that the Henan Jianye star forward, who returned to China two weeks ago ahead of the Chinese Super League resumption has been confined in a hospital in Guangzhou-China.
He joins compatriots, Bryan Mbeumo and Njie Clinton who also tested positive to Covid-19 but have all been treated successfully.
Chinese Super League officials claim the situation poses a minimal risk to the championship that restarted on 25th July. Two fixtures of the 16 team championship have already been played.
Christian Bassogog inspired Henan Jianye to 8th place finish of the Chinese Super League last season. He notched eight (8) goals in 25 games and assisted six (6) times.
His side lost their league opener to Jiangsu Suning with the Cameroonian international absent from the squad.
