Cameroon’s captain Vincent Aboubakar and midfielder James Lea Siliki have completed the Indomitable Lions squad for the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations which begins on January 9, 2022.
Both players arrived late because of their club commitments which ran until late December 2021, but have joined the rest of the team in camp at the Mundi Sport Complex in Yaounde.
While Rennes midfielder Lea Siliki took part in a routine training session on Monday, with the rest of the squad, his team mate Vincent Aboubakar who had been involved in two games within five days for his Saudi Arabian side Al Nasr was given permission to rest by head coach Antonio Conceicao.
Host Cameroon opened camp on December 7 with 19 players with the five time African champions now on two training sessions daily ahead of their opening game against Burkina Faso on January 9, 2022 at the Olembe Sport Complex.
The stallions-their first challenge are expected to arrive at Yaoundé this Tuesday where they will join their group rivals, Ethiopia who were the first nation to arrive in Cameroon. The last member of the group Cape Verde will arrive on Wednesday.
