The head coach of Cameroon Intermediate Lions Yves Clement Arroga is upbeat his side will triumph at the 2021 African Nations Football Championship despite failing to score in five of their last warm-up games.
Cameroon drew goalless with South Sudan in a two legged friendly in Yaounde which extended their winless run in five games. The squad has also failed to score in any of their last four fixtures despite losing only one of eleven (11) games so far.
Coach Yves Clement Arroga has admitted that the Intermediate Lions have been facing goal scoring woes but maintained the team is pushing towards making remarkable strides in forthcoming games.
“It was another preparatory game which was different from others. And we are moving forward with our preparation. It was a good game. The opponents were good and it was difficult to score”.
“We will continue to work. That’s where our problem lies. We have learnt a lot we will continue to work so as to build a great squad for the CHAN. The CHAN is close and there’s been a net amelioration in our style of play. Now we are working so that the team should score goals”.
The Intermediate Lions next test is against League one giants Coton Sport of Garoua on October 16 in Douala.
Cameroon face Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso and Mali in group A of the African Nations Football Championship next year. The host are poised to clinch a maiden trophy at the continental football tournament next year.
