After a three day tour Cameroon’s  Prime Minister Dion Ngute says Cameroon is set to host CHAN 2021.

“I am very proud of the achievement that Cameroon has been able to make these past few years”- PM Dion Ngute said at one of the hosting venues.

The Head of Government visited various stadia and training facilities in Yaounde, Douala and Limbe-Buea respectively barely a month to the start of the biennial continental football championship.

During the tour, PM Ngute urged those responsible for the upkeep of the various facilities concerned to ensure they are maintained prior to the CHAN next year. He also seized the occasion to call on Cameroonians to turn out massively during the competition to support the teams in the tournament.

“I am very proud of the achievement that Cameroon has been able to make these past few years. It has taken a lot of sacrifice but when I see the quality of the stadiums I think they are of the highest possible level. I wish to use this opportunity to thank the Head of State for his vision to give the Cameroonian youths wonderful tools for sport” Joseph Dion Ngute said after an inspection visit to the Douala site.

He added: “I secondly will like to tell the young Cameroonians that after one year of Covid, it’s been very difficult for them, I think the beginning of the year should be a period where they should come out and go to the stadiums”.

The 2021 African Nations Football Championship will run from January 16 to February 7. Host Cameroon will play the opening fixture against Zimbabwe at the refurbished Ahmadou Ahidjou Stadium in Yaounde.

Host venues are the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé, the Reunification and Japoma Stadium in Douala and the Limbe Omnisport Stadium.
