Donald trump tweets that Europe is making a big mistake accepting refugees

U.S. President Donald Trump took to Twitter Monday morning to condemn the presence of refugees in Europe, and Germany in particular.

“The people of Germany are turning against their leadership as migration is rocking the already tenuous Berlin coalition. Crime in Germany is way up. Big mistake made all over Europe in allowing millions of people in who have so strongly and violently changed their culture!” he tweeted.

His statement comes just after his zero-tolerance immigration policy has been on the headlines on almost every media house. Is he trying to justify why the USA should not be accepting migrants?

In April 2018, Germany has agreed to take in 10,000 migrants who were selected by the United Nations’ refugee (UNHCR) agency. The German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the refugees would be part of a resettlement programme in Germany but did not indicate from which countries they would come.

Last week, Spain agreed to take in 629 migrants stranded on a rescue boat in the Mediterranean Sea after Italy’s new government denied the vessel access to its ports in a bid to force a European reckoning over the migration situation.
