Egypt Qualifies for the Football World Cup after 27 Years

Egypt has joined Nigeria as the second team from the African continent to qualify for the 2018 Football World Cup in Russia, after defeating Congo on Sunday night.

Egypt’s star Mohamed Salah scored the first goal during the match’s 62 minute before Congo equalized at the 82nd minute.

A last-minute Mohamed Salah penalty guarenteed the World Cup qualification.

Essam El-Hadary and the team have now joined hosts Russia along with other teams including: Brazil, Iran, Japan, Mexico, Belgium, Korea Republic, Saudi Arabia, Germany, England, Spain, Costa Rica, Poland and Nigeria.

Congo Brazzaville coach Sebastien Migne praised the Egyptian national team before the clash between the two teams in the fifth round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
