• Cameroon suffers another injury blow with Kunde Malong ruled out of November’s 2022 WC Qualifiers

Olympiacos midfielder Pierre Kunde Malong is set to miss Cameroon’s final 2022 World Cup qualification matches against Malawi and Ivory Coast this month after picking up an injury on Sunday.
The 26-year-old international that had been named in Coach Antonio Conceicao’s final 27-man squad for their crunch World Cup qualifiers, was substituted four minutes to halftime after picking up a knee problem in his team’s narrow 1-nil win against Ionikos.
Although the hard fought victory helped Olympiacos move three points clear from the top of the table, the Greece Super League defending champions, will be deprived of their Cameroonian midfielder for at least two weeks according to Kick442.
Kunde joins the Saint Etienne duo of Harold Moukoudi and Yvan Neyou on Cameroon’s injury list. The former Mainz midfield anchor has featured four times for the five times African champions in their previous World Cup qualifiers.
Cameroon takes on the Flames of Malawi on November 13 at the Orlando Stadium in South Africa, before hosting familiar foes Ivory Coast three days later at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.
The 2021 AFCON host are currently second of group D with nine points, just one behind current leaders Ivory Coast. Only the winner of the group will advance to the play-off where Africa’s five representatives for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar shall be known.
In the meantime, eight players of the team are currently in camp. The others will progressively arrive today to begin preparations for the clash against Malawi.
