Reigning Cameroon Elite one Champions PWD Bamenda returned to winning ways as goals from Nchindo John Bosco and Vincent Paul Ngondi saw off South Sudan in a thrilling friendly game in Yaoundé.
It is the first international friendly encounter Cameroon has hosted since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, but the second for the Bamenda based outfit that are poised for a decent display at the African Elite inter-club competition this year. They drew goalless with Futuro Kings of Equatorial Guinea in their first international encounter last week.
The CAF Champions League bound who failed to clinch a win in their two previous pre-season outings put up a remarkable show to outclass their rivals with considerable domination and possession.
The Abakwa boys earned a deserved first half lead with two superb finishes from talisman Nchindo John Bosco’s brace. The forward opened scores for the host 29 miniutes into the game and wrapped-up his terrific form with a brilliantly converted spot kick.
PWD’s new signing Vincent Paul Ngondi sealed the win for the Elite one club with a stoppage time goal after both sides had struggled to make the most of their chances.
PWD Bamenda face AS Fortuna in a preseason tournament at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo on Friday. Coach David Pagou will be looking forward to a back-to-back win for his side.
South Sudan on their part will continue to prepare ahead of a double confrontation against Cameroon Intermediate Lions who narrowly lost to Panthere du Nde in a friendly on Wednesday. The two leg fixture comes up on the 10 and 13 of August 2020 in Yaoundé.
