The draw ceremony of the delayed 2021 Africa Cup of Nations will take place on August 15 at the Yaoundé Conference Hall.

Initially scheduled to take place on June 25, the event was postponed by the African regulatory football body due to logistical reasons linked with the Covid-19 pandemic.

“At the request of Caf, the Cameroon Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has agreed to postpone the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 final draw for logistical reasons related to the Covid-19 pandemic,” a statement read on Caf’s website last month.

The 2021 AFCON will run from January 9- February 6 next year in Cameroon. The tournament was pushed back by 12 months as a result of the global health crisis.

A total of 24 teams including the host nation have secured places at the tournament and now wait to know their group rivals.

The Central African nation will become only the second nation after Egypt to host the expanded 24 team tournament. Cameroon-who are the second most successful nation with five trophies-last staged the AFCON in 1972
