Pre-CHAN 2021 tourney: Zambia stun host Cameroon in thrilling tie to record first win

• Host Cameroon continue their winless run and finish the four nations tournament without a win in three games

Zambia beat Cameroon 2-0 to record their first win in the final day of the four nations Pre-CHAN mini-tournament and inflict a second successive defeat to the host.  

Collins Sikombe and Zacharia Chilongoshi were both on target as the 2021 CHAN bound who had gone for two games without a win beat Cameroon after two superb second half goals for a deserved win.

Zambia created goal scoring chances first. They missed the chance to open the scoring after a silly defensive error from the Intermediate Lions but the shot was blocked by a last dirge tackle  to prevent damage. 

Collins sikombe’s sublime strike at the edge of  Cameroon’s defence came off the woodwork while his team mate Emmanuel chabula’s volley from the rebound also hit the post although he was offside. 

Cameroon rarely threatened their rivals. Their best chance came from Martin Ako Assomo who curled in from a loose ball within the box but Zambia’s keeper Lameck Siame made a smart save to prevent the Intermediate Lions from taking the lead. 

Collins Sikombe found the breakthrough for Zambia five minutes into the second half from a fine tap-in while Zacharia Chilongoshi fired a powerful left shot to double tally after he was left unmarked from a well taken corner kick.

 Zambia drew 3-3 with Niger and lost to Uganda 2-0 before clinching a famous win. The team is expected to leave for Limbe this Fiday to continue their preparations for the CHAN. 

They face Guinea, Namibia and Tanzania in group D of the 2021 CHAN.
