SDF summons emergency meeting after Biya convokes electorate

The leading opposition political party in Cameroon, the Social Democratic Front (SDF) has summoned an emergency meeting to take place at the party’s headquarters in Yaounde, today.

In a communiqué signed by the secretary general of the SDF, Jean Tsomelou, the meeting is open to all National Executive Committee (NEC) members, Mayors and Parliamentarians.

The meeting will begin at 9am prompt, the secretary general said without disclosing the agenda of the union.

The party convoked this meeting just hours after the Head of State summoned the electorates to the polls for February 09, 2020 for Legislative and Municipal elections.

Suppositions as to what will be discussed in the meeting are not yet known. The party will likely discuss it’s position to with regards to the elections after openly threatening to withdraw from the November session of Parliament if concrete measures are not taken to put an end to the Anglophone crisis.
