The Governor of the North West Region of Cameroon, Adolphe Lele Lafrique has sent out a press release informing the public that the soldier who filmed students dancing in an inappropriate manner in a dormitory in Sacred Heart College, Bamenda has been identified and apprehended.
The communique adds that disciplinary sanctions will be metted against him.
He further explained that security forces have as sole responsibility to ensure the security of citizens and property especially during the ongoing socio-political crisis, instead of engaging in irresponsible activities.
The video which was widely shared on social media networks showed a man in uniform holding a gun while students danced in front of him and he filmed them.
Cameroonians who shared some pictures from the video and the video on social media condemned the act, asking what a man in uniform was doing in the dormitory.
The restive North West Region of Cameroon has been militarized for over a year now. Soldiers have been deployed to guard schools after frequent attacks from armed men. Some schools have been shut down but others are ongoing with the presence of the Military.
Amnesty reports that about 160 security forces have been killed in the Anglophone Crisis.
English speaking Cameroonians have been using Twitter and Facebook to point out some wrongs committed by the government.
