Sunday Jang: Esperance target Cameroon’s promising teenager

• African giants Esperance of Tunis have reportedly made a lucrative offer of 65 million CFA Francs (about $118,000) to Cameroon League one side Eding Sport FC, for Sunday Jang Junior.

Esperance Sportive of Tunis have made an offer of 65 million frs CFA for Cameroon’s Under-20 teenage striker Sunday Jang Junior who’s currently on the books of League one side Eding Sport of the Lekie, Ginainforms gathered from Allez les Lion.   

The 18-year-old rising talent scored twice and played a stirring role to help Cameroon reach the quarter-finals of the Under-20 African Cup of Nations in Mauritania although the Lions crashed out to Ghana 4-2 on post-match penalties . 

He was also instrumental for the Central African Nation as they emerged champions of the UNIFFAC zonal tournament last year in Equatorial Guinea, finishing top scorer alongside the Most Valuable Player Award (MVP). 

Sunday Jang Junior-the son of former Indomitable Lions midfielder Sunday Jang who featured at the 1996 African Cup of Nations in South Africa, has also been on the radar of French outfit Strasbourg and Belgian club Eupen. Sunday is one of the most exciting talents to watch on the pitch. He has frequently hit ground breaking form in devastating fashion and a potential goal-machine-no doubt he’s making headlines. 

Recently, Esperance of Tunis has shown interest in the striker that has demonstrated great skills. He could become a perfect fit in the North African’s top-drawer attacking talents and help them maintain their continental supremacy. The four time CAF Champions league winners are said to have made a lucrative bid to lure the teenage sensation to Tunisia. 

Ginainforms gathered that Esperance is also willing to offer material benefits to 2017 Elite one winners Eding Sport alongside other benefits.  However, the deal is yet to be concluded, with the future of Sunday Jang uncertain as be battles from injury sustained during the game against Ghana in Mauritania. 

This isn’t they first time Esperance is purchasing a player from Cameroon. If the deal goes through, Sunday Jang will become the next Cameroonian to join the Blood and Gold after several of his compatriots; Yannick Ndjeng (2011-2013 & 2013-2016), Franck Kom (2017-2019), Thierry Makon (2014), Yaya Banana (2009-2012) and Aminou Bouba (2009-2012) amongst others. 

Espérance is the most successful club in Tunisia with over 30 record Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 titles, 15 Tunisian Cup and 5 Tunisian Super Cup. They have won four CAF Champions League titles, one CAF Cup title, one CAF Cup Winners’ Cup title and one CAF Super Cup title.
