Cameroon narrowly edged Mali 1-0 as they collected their first win at the ongoing 2019 CAF U-23 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Franck Evina scored his second goal with a cool 76 minute finish to power Cameroon to their first win ever at the U-23 event in Egypt and permit them edge closer to the semi finals.
He was named Man of the Match for his outstanding display during the thrilling game.
Both teams battled for the lead but could only be contented with a barren draw at the break.
Cameroon dug deep and showed more of their attacking fluency during a remarkable second half but were unfortunate to get a breakthrough against Mali.
Their efforts payed off when Franck Evina gave the Lions the lead 14 minutes to the end.
Mali scrambled for an equalizer but met stiff resistance from an inspired Cameroonian side who had nursed hopes of an eventual victory.
Mali becomes the first nation to bow off the competition with two defeats.
Cameroon Olympic Lions face Egypt on Thursday to secure a spot to the semi final-their first ever.
They currently top group A temporarily while waiting for the outcome between the Ghana vs Egypt clash.
